Product FAIL! Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment: Do NOT Buy This!

Every once in a while I will come across a product that is just so gut wrenchingly horrid that feel an explicit need to warn you lovelies NOT to purchase it...EVER!

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment is one of the worst items that I have EVER used on my hair. EVER! Seriously, do not buy it!

A bit of information about my hair type: I have wavy hair, very wavy hair. My hair is also prone to frizz and tangling. I get it highlighted on occasion, so it is also very dry. So, I have dry, wavy, frizzy hair that is prone to tangling and dullness. To sum it up: a regular conditioner does nothing for my hair; most of them are just too watery to really leave my hair moisturized. I use a deep conditioner in place of a regular one so that my hair stays soft and manageable. (I also have psoriasis on my scalp which typically NEVER acts up or bothers me; I use a prescription shampoo once a week and have a foam to use as needed. I have never had an issue with a product burning my scalp until now!) I've recently been trying out several different hair masks/treatments to find the one that works best for my hair/scalp. In the midst of playing hair guinea-pig, I stumbled upon one of the worst items ever sold:

Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment

Upon following the specific directions listed on the container, my hair wound up a tangled, dry, matted heap, and my scalp became a fit of burning, hellacious fury! It was unlike anything I had ever felt! Since I wanted to be 100% sure it was this product causing the issues and not just a freak of nature, I gave it another try a week later, and once again followed the directions exactly as they were written. It was not a fluke: it was indeed this product making my hair/scalp a nightmare! It is so terrible that I wouldn't even consider giving the rest away to a friend/family member because I can't think of a single hair type that WANTS frizzy, dry, tangled, dull hair, or an inflamed scalp that feels like acid was poured on it! Not only did it take me ages to de-mat my hair after using this product, I also had to then re-wash and rinse my scalp thoroughly so it would quit burning.OUCH! That no doubt damaged my hair even further. Let's not forget that it dried the daylights out of my already dry and frizz-prone hair, making it even more frizzy and dull. What a nightmare of a product! I wound up having to use several different products just to get my hair back to normal again. I plan to write the company and let them know what happened to me. Hopefully, they will discontinue this line so nobody else experiences what I went through.

This was not the first product from Organix that I have used. I have used the Coconut Milk line (shampoo, conditioner, anti-breakage serum~which works very well), the Pomegranate Green Tee line (shampoo/conditioner), and also the Vanilla Silk line (shampoo/conditioner). None of those products ever irritated my scalp/hair. This is the only product I've ever used from this company that has given me such horrific results! The only reason I tried this product in the first place is because I had previously used things from the Organix brand and had good results. Never again will I use their Moroccan Argan Oil line!

If you're wondering, I've used Moroccan Argan Oil before and have NEVER had an issue. I've used the ONE Argan Oil (I use that daily), Moroccanoil, and I also have the Moroccanoil Frizz Control which has NEVER given me any issues. So, this is not "argan oil" related allergy; this is simply a reaction to a sub-standard product that should not be allowed on the market or in homes! I don't know the chemistry behind all the ingredients in the little blue tub, but it can't be anything good! (One thing I did notice is that the second product listed on the ingredient list is Behentrimonium Chloride (quaternary ammonium salt: Extremely drying to ALL hair types! Yikes!)

Dear lovelies, save yourselves a headache and stay far, far away from this product!
Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment

The product claims are nowhere near an accurate reflection of the havoc it reaped upon my hair! What it claims to do and what actually happens when it is applied are two entirely different things! Stay far away! ~What it claims to do: "This rare formula has a centuries-old history of providing natural vitamin E and antioxidants while renewing your hair's cell structure, sealing in shine and creating lush softness. It's the perfect indulgence for soft, seductive silky perfection. * Penetrates and moisturizes * Renews and creates softness and strength * Protects hair from harmful styling heat and UV damages resulting in smooth, sexy tresses * Not tested on animals"

~Instructions on use from their website. The first time I used it, I tried #1. The second time I used it, I tried #3. Both gave me the same, horrible results!:
"You can use the Moroccan argan oil intensive moisture treatment several ways depending on your hair needs.  Here are a few suggestions.
"#1.  Deep Conditioning Treatment - Apply the Organix renewing Moroccan argan oil intensive moisture treatment evenly over DRY hair with a wide-toothed comb. The trade-secret on this product is that you can leave it on for up to an hour and use it as a deep conditioning mask. Once you’ve got the mask on, put a shower cap on, and then wrap a hot, wet towel around the shower cap. The heat will help the mask penetrate the hair even deeper, ensuring maximum conditioning.

#2.  Condition Shampoo Condition Method - Apply the the Organix renewing Moroccan argan oil intensive moisture treatment evenly over DRY hair with a wide-toothed comb. Let sit for 3 to 5 minutes than shampoo, condition, and style.

#3.  Use as a Conditioner - Apply the Organix renewing Moroccan argan oil intensive moisture treatment to wet hair after shampooing.
Allow to sit for 3 to 5 minutes then rinse and style."

  1. Hi Lydia,
I used the hydrating moroccan argan oil from Organix (a dry body oil) and it has been the worst product I ever used for my skin. I used as the instruction at night after I bath and the next morning I had a terrible skin reaction. 3 day later I still have it ( the itchy and burning is bad). My doctor told that I should wait for a few more day. So this is to alert everybody to be very careful with this product

    1. Hi Brittany,
Thank you for reading and commenting! I am so sorry you had such a negative reaction to another product from that line too. There is something horrifically wrong with the Moroccan line from Organix! I wrote to the company to let them know about my experience when it happened. Unfortunately, I never received a reply back from them. Maybe you could try writing as well though? If enough people let the company know that they're having such negative experiences with that line, maybe they will discontinue it. I will definitely be including my experience it in the next "Products I regret buying" video I make, to warn other people. There were several other ladies I spoke with that had negative reactions to products from that line as well. Organix really needs to pull the Moroccan line before anyone else has a severe reaction. I've never had issues with any of the other Organix lines, but this one experience turned me off enough to never purchase another one of their products in the future! I hope your skin heals up soon!

  2. That is funny, I also want to know which of the chemical that give this allergic reaction, since mine also was so itchy, and had lots of clocking bumps, that is bleading too. Didn't realize that this was the cause of it, since at the same time I was also trying new conditioner. And also trying out the method of using bonnet when I sleep, so really I did not think it was allergic reaction. I normally can try out anything without worrying to have an allergic reaction. so this is really a surprise for me too. I ended up using Ketoconazol 2% just to cure the upseting scalp, and even till today, I still have those red bumps (just smal sizes). I'm gonna try their coconut line, since I know im not allergic to coconut.

  3. I also had a reaction from it. I have a rash all over my neck and spread to my face and my scalp. I can't rid the itch though, the only thing that works is denorex for 2 hours. My scalp hurts so bad from the itching and it has red patches and swollen spots too. I though it was my laundry soap because I wear baseball caps sometimes and it is in the same area, but now it has spread to my entire hairline. At least it doesn't itch in my sleep though. Oh yea I have spent over $100 on itch, lice, etc. Products. Now my hair is so dry from the products =((( good luck ladies and ty for the info what a sigh of relief!

  5. Can anyone tell me what to do to stop the itching? I figured out after about a week that I am allergic to something in this shampoo. Unfortunately, I used it on my kids as well (I had run out of their shampoo -- such bad luck)! It has been at least a week since we stopped using it, and we are all still itching! I feel so bad, especially for my kids.
