I thought I would start something new to my blog and post a few fun facts today!
1. Clowns absolutely terrify me; yes, they terrify me!! (there is a long story behind that as well involving the movie "IT" and a trip to the circus.)
2. I love fried pickles & ranch dressing...it's the most amazing combination!
3. As of today, I know how to intubate and extubate patients!!! Ya!!
4. I have 8 piercings, yet no tattoos.
5. Giraffes make me really happy!
6. I would love to adopt a child someday when I am financially able to. :)
7. "Dirty Dancing" is my all time favorite movie!! (I wanted to marry Patrick Swayze (rip) when I was a little girl!)
8. I had an odd fascination with scissors when I was little. I gave my poodle a haircut (his poor ears never grew out!), my rabbit a haircut, myself more haircuts than I can count (one time I just lifted up all of the hair in the middle of my head and went "snip" with the scissors...I had a bald spot for quite a while much to my poor mom's horror), and I even tried to make my nightgown a minidress before my mom took a hint and started hiding scissors hahahah!
9. I've never been able to whistle!
10. I love Claude Monet paintings; he's my absolute favorite artist. (I have several replicas)

Answered Prayers!
This week has been full of ups and downs. A few nights ago when I was really upset, I decided to read my Bible for a little while and commit things to God. Sometimes we just have to know when to let go of things and pray. All I can say is our God is an awesome God and he works in mysterious ways! Last night and today have been nothing short of amazing and have been filled with answered prayers!!! (I will blog more about that at a later time ;) ) This is the passage that really stood out to me this week! I hope it inspires some of you too!
1 Thessalonians 5:12-24
12Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 14And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.
16Be joyful always; 17pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
19Do not put out the Spirit's fire; 20do not treat prophecies with contempt. 21Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22Avoid every kind of evil.
23May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.

Is it REALLY illegal to smack morons upside the head once in a while???
When I was a little girl, I used to enjoy going to the occassional arcade or game places and playing one particular game called "Wacky Gator". It involved wacking multiple alligators upside the head with a mallet. It really felt wonderful to smack those silly creatures upside the head for jumping out at me! I REALLY enjoyed it! (Here is a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lec6W4fEsbI - oh yeah people, that kid has the right idea!) Where am I going with this thought you might ask? Well, I will tell you- I think that in an ideal world, we would all be able to wack dumb people upside the head for saying stupid things. Wouldn't that be simply marvelous??? How delightful would it be to just be able to bop someone upside the head once in a while when they need a reality check???
Just to be clear, I'm not a violent person, I just think people need a little sense knocked into them sometimes is all. Now be truthful...have you ever REALLY wanted to wack someone upside the head??? (not hurt them of course, just knock a little sense into them) . Oh boy did I ever want to do that today!!! But alas, I have excellent self-control as far as bopping people upside the head goes, and I resisted the urge!
I Was Tagged---10 Things That Make Me Happy!!!
I was tagged by the lovely Erica for this! These are the rules: List 10 things that make you happy and link back to the person who tagged you and ten others.
1.) My relationship with God. I love knowing that He is always there for me in every facet of my life. That's such an amazing gift!
2.) Giraffes!! (They Fascinate Me!)
3.) My family & wonderful friends- I love them all to pieces and enjoying spending time with them! They help make my life complete. / I also cherish my relationship with my boyfriend Jack!! After dealing with the pain that comes with an abusive/unfaithful ex husband and a horrible divorce, I pretty much gave up on the dream of ever finding the right man. All of my friends/family told me that when I least expected it, God would bring the right man into my life. They were right! Jack is the most incredable man I've ever known and never fails to make me smile or feel loved. I cherish each new day I get to spend with him in my life, and look foward to our first anniversary in May!! :)
4.) Magazines. I've collected Cosmopolitan's since I was 17 and always look foward to each new issue. It's something simple, but it is always filled full of interesting articles, beauty tips, and cute dinner ideas. I look foward to my new issue every month! (I also love Red Book, O (oprah) Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, Glamour, Marie Claire, and many more - yes, I love magazines!)
5.) Cooking!! I love to cook and I'm always trying out new recipes. For me, it's a great way to try out new recipes and throw away the worries of the day and concentrate on something fun. I also like to prepare healthy meals instead of eating fast food. (Giada de Laurentiis is my muse)
6.) My animals. They are my "fluffy children" and are such blessings! I love watching all of the unique personalities and quirks that each of them have. Every day, whether it's a good day or a bad day, they are always there to geet me and make me laugh.
-Hagan (German Shepherd) is my goofball and my guardian all rolled into one. I rescued Hagan on the day he was set to be euthanized at Memphis Animal Services. He was heartworm positive, had 2 severly infected puncture wounds (because they were untreated, his entire body was in septic shock), he weighed only 48lbs and was severely emaciated, had a massive URI infection, was aggressive, and nobody wanted to give him a chance. I thought he deserved better. He has since made a full recovery and has progressed quite well with his training. I'm soo happy I adopted my sweet boy!
-Velvet- she was the first cat that I ever adopted and I have had her since I was 11 yrs old. She is my sweetheart and if there is such a thing as a furry "soulmate", she's it. She knows when I'm sick, she knows when I need a hug (yes, she gives hugs), and she's always there to make me smile. :)
- Isabella- she was abused horrifically before I adopted her. It took me months to even get her to where I could pet her or get her to play. Now my gorgeous girl is always chirping away at me and making me laugh.
- Kojak- I rescued him and his and his brothers when they were only a few days old. They had ringworm, coccidia, feline herpes, URI, and were not expected to live. With a little love and around the clock bottle feedings & meds, they all made full recoveries and all of them found amazing homes. When it was time to put Kojak up for adoption though, I just couldn't part with him. He's now my best buddy!
-My fishtanks...oh how I love to watch my beautiful fish swim around and have fun!! :)
7.) Claude Monet paintings. Is there anything more beautiful than the way he could capture a beautiful image in his mind and then paint it for the rest of the world to see?? I would love to travel one day to see his gardens at Giverny! I have several replicas of his paintings and I love them all!
8.) Clinicals- I love helping my patients and learning new things each shift! I also enjoy hearing the "Go to Sleep" tune play at the hospital during my shift. They play it evertime a new baby is born, and it always makes me smile! :) (When I'm on my way to the cardiac floor, I love sneaking a peek through the nursery windows at the newborns all swaddled in their blankets as I pass by L&D. Totally makes my day! I can't wait to finish my degree so I can work woth those beautiful infants!)
9.) Fried Pickles & Ranch Dressing (No, I'm not pregnant, I just happen to like that combination!) / I also love "white wedding cake supreme's" from Jerry's Sno Cones..1 word for them - AMAZING!
10.) Floral Design- I've been a lisenced florist since I was 17 years old, and still enjoy designing whenver I have the time! :) Designing is an amazing excuse to be creative and have fun using your imagination!
(P.S. Annie, consider yourself tagged!)

The Secret Is Out: The Man Can Cook!!
Jack and I will celebrate our 1yr anniversary soon (May 18th)! In the past year we've had an amazing time falling in love, sharing lots of laughs, and learning new things about each other. One established fact in our relationship is that I'm "the cook". I love to cook and enjoy it thoroughly; I'm always trying out new recipes and making Jack sample them (he loves that!). Until this week though, I never knew he could cook (aside from making boxed mac & cheese). Friday night was a sweet surprise! I finished up my first week of clinicals on Friday and left the hospital around 10:30 absolutely starving for dinner! When I stopped by the condo to visit Jack for a while, he had a full dinner ready for us! How sweet is that?? He made some delicious chicken parmesan and homemade garlic/basil toast. It was very good too!
Proof he can cook a great meal!

Clinicals!!
Today (well, technically yesterday since it's now after midnight) was officially my first day of clinicals (Respiratory Therapy)! If today was any indication of my future career, I couldn't be happier with my choice! I love it; I love the people I'm working with and the kind staff at the hospital where I'm at! :)
So far, I think that the evening shift gets a good bit of action too! Although we had a little down time tonight at certain points, we were on the go for the most part. Today (under the watchful eye of my sweet preceptors) I got to: preform 13 breathing treatments, observe a bronchoscopy on a post-op patient, assist one of my preceptors with an arteral blood gas draw, and learned how to check the charts & run the ABG machine. It was soo fun!! I am excited to see what happens during the rest of my clinical time and can't wait to learn more with each new shift! I'm also hoping that I learn my way around the hospital quickly; it's easy to get lost there!

Belated Valentine Pictures!
I'm a little late posting these as it's been a bit of a long week. Valentines this year was a little bittersweet. Bitter in the sense that we had my Nannie's viewing on Valentine's night and her funeral on Monday. Sweet in the sense that I know she is happy and at rest, and also that my amazing boyfriend Jack went out of his way to make sure I had a good Valentines. He is soo wonderful to me and always knows how to make me smile! Nannie always taught us how important love was. I think it's fitting her viewing was on Valentines to remind us all about how important love and family truely are! I defintiely cherished this week.
Here are some pictures from Valentines this year!
Sweet Card From Jack
Then Jack wrote," On their first Valentines Day, my grandfather gave my grandmother one red rose. He now gives her 54. You're going to need a big vase too! Love, Jack.
P.S. Bob has your new GSP. We can get him Wednesday." - How sweet is he??? Ahh I love him! :)

Better is one day in your courts than 1000 elsewhere....
That is a line from a song that has been running through my head all evening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Drebw_nVzZ8
Today my beautiful grandmother, Nannie, passed away around 10:30pm. She had been ill for quite a while and God saw fit to call her home tonight. Never have I known a more radiant, strong, or inspirational woman like my grandmother. She was the true definition of strength and perseverance. In her life she knew struggles and joys. She was blessed with 2 children and more grandchildren and great grandchildren than she could keep track of! She considered all of her family members precious treasures and always had a big hug and a funny joke for all of us. She taught me what it means to have faith and to stay strong. I could confide in her things that I couldn't tell to anyone else. She always knew how to make me laugh and smile.
As saddened as I am that she has passed on, I take comfort knowing that she is no longer in pain or suffering. She is at peace. I want to celebrate her life and her new home in heaven. She now has a new heavenly body (and a new arm/hand!) and she gets to see her precious Savior, her mother that she never had a chance to know (my great grandmother passed away when Nannie was little), brothers and sisters, her husband, and countless other friends and family members that she has longed to see for a long time. It brings a smile to my face to know that she is reunited with them and looking down on all of us right now.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures of my precious grandmother:

Pull Up Your Pants People!!
I'm not typically the type to complaine about clothing. However, there is one "trend" that drives me crazy: saggy pants down past the butt! What the hell?? Is it really necessary to have your pants down to your knees people? I understand not wanting to wear tight pants or uncomfortable clothing, but if you have to reach down every five seconds to pull up your pants, there is a good chance that you may need to reconsider your clothing size. It's time to find proper fitting clothes if your butt is not covered when you're in public Are we really turning into a society full of individuals who enjoy going around showing off their thongs, muffin tops, tighty-whities, boxers, and cracks to everyone??? Why even bother putting pants on if they're not going to cover the parts they were intended for when you're away from home?
Take the other day for instance, I went to buy gas for my car. As I was standing in line, there was a man in the front of the line checking out. As far as I know, he could be the most kind person in the world so I'm not knocking him for his personality, however, I would just like it if he covered his bare a$$ in public! His pants were already exceptionally baggy and low, and then he leaned over to pay for his purchases, and down the pants went! Did he pick them up??? NOPE! He continued his conversation with the clerk, unphased that his a$$ was exposed to EVERYONE behind him. He was clearly not wearing anything under his pants eithor! I saw much more than I needed to that early in the morning! Oh yeah people, we're talking a full early morning peep show at the Shell station! You would think that the guy needed a belt right? Here is the kicker, he was wearing a belt! I would like to point out that belts do nothing for your pants if your pants and your belt do not fit right! I'm not advocating spending unholy amounts of money on clothing or dressing like Steve Urkel; I'm just saying, pull up your pants and dress appropriately when you go out in public! If you want to be a nudist in your own home, that's awesome. Go home and be the most happy naked person on the face of the earth, or dress however you would like. If you plan to go out in public though, please pull up your pants people! Plumbers crack is NEVER sexy!
